A symposium honouring two pioneers
The Ahuja Bajaj Symposium is dedicated to two distinguished pioneers of Indian diabetes and endocrinology — Padma Shri Late Prof. M. M. S. Ahuja and Padma Vibhushan Late Prof. J. S. Bajaj — whose foundational work shaped diabetes care and research in India.
Convened by Prof. (Dr.) Anoop Misra, it brings the latest India-relevant evidence in diabetes, metabolism and nutrition to clinicians every year.

Prof. M. M. S. Ahuja
1929 – 1998
Former Head of the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism and Dean, AIIMS, New Delhi. Played a key role in founding the Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India (1972) and the Hormone Foundation, India; founding editor of the International Journal of Diabetes in Developing Countries.

Prof. J. S. Bajaj
1936 – 2019
Member (Health), Planning Commission with the rank of Minister of State (1991–98). Professor and Head of Medicine, AIIMS; honorary physician to the President of India (1977–82, 1987–92) and consultant physician to the Prime Minister (1991–96). Doctorate in Medicine conferred by the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm; Fellow of the Royal Colleges of London and Edinburgh.

The symposium is convened by Prof. (Dr.) Anoop Misra and jointly hosted by the N-DOC Foundation and Fortis C-DOC.
National Diabetes, Obesity and Cholesterol Foundation (N-DOC)
A not-for-profit established in 2009 under the leadership of Dr. Anoop Misra, working amongst underprivileged communities, women and children on obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular risk factors, with a multi-disciplinary research team of diabetologists, endocrinologists, geneticists, public-health experts and nutritionists.
Fortis C-DOC Hospital
Centre of Excellence for Diabetes, Metabolic Diseases and Endocrinology, New Delhi — spearheaded by Dr. (Prof.) Anoop Misra since 2011, delivering world-class care for diabetes and allied disorders with a consortium of renowned specialists.
